Department Profile:
Global Financial Crimes (GFC) coordinates day-to-day implementation of the Firm’s enterprise-wide financial crime prevention efforts. GFC includes both legal and compliance disciplines and has responsibility for governance, oversight and execution of the Firm’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions, Anti-Corruption, Anti-Tax Evasion and Government and Political Activities Compliance programs. GFC also develops and/or assists in the development of appropriate policies and procedures, including those designed to assist the business units to know their clients and conduct appropriate due diligence and to prevent, detect and report potentially suspicious activity.
The Firm is currently seeking a driven and experienced professional to cover MSIM China GFC. This role is based in Shenzhen, China.
What you’ll do in the role:
- Participate in building the fixed income investment research system, refine research frameworks, databases, and quantitative pricing models, and track research and investment opportunities in innovative bond products and new directions for fund instruments. Provide implementation coverage for the Firm’s AML/CFT program in support of global deliverables and regional priorities in MSIM China;
- Assist the APAC Head of MSIM GFC and MSIM China CCO to drive implementation of AML programs and enhancements through analysis, prioritization of implementation phases based on system dependencies, risk based analysis and regulatory considerations;
- Monitoring of local regulatory developments and new rules or requirements;
- Drafting and implementing appropriate AML policies and procedures;
- Advise on, and resolve, potential AML issues and internal enquiries arising from business units of MSIM China;
- Assisting to liaise with AML system vendors to implement changes and conduct systems testing in conjunction with stakeholders;
- Assist with responding to regulatory exams and other inquiries, and internal audits, including overseeing document production and data collection in connection with these enquiries;
- Supervision of know-your customer and client due diligence processes including assessing the Financial Crime risk associated with potential and existing high-risk clients;
- Investigation and escalation of ongoing monitoring alerts and queries;
- Oversight and supervision of the filing of Suspicious Transaction Reports (STR);
- Reviewing, validating, and providing advice to action owners on matters relating to Anti-Corruption & Bribery and Gift & Entertainment, covering sales, marketing event and expense management processes;
- Facilitating communication and clarification of standards in relation to sanctions, AML, Anti-Bribery & Corruption, and Gift & Entertainment with regional Financial Crimes and Compliance teams.
What you’ll bring to the role:
- Bachelor's degree;
- At least 8 years of relevant experience in AML Compliance or regulatory compliance work, preferably in a financial services environment or audit consulting capacity with strong knowledge of the China regulatory environment;
- An analytical mindset with attention to detail;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Mandarin;
- Ability to independently interact with senior business management;
- Strong team player and ability to operate in an international environment;
- Certification as an Anti-Money Laundering Specialist by ACAMS or equivalent AML certification/license - or certification within 15 months of hire.
